Applications for ag camp still available

Oct 10, 2017 @ 8:30 am. - Oct 11, 2017 @ 3:30 pm.

A fall break 4-H ag camp scheduled for Tuesday and Oct. 11 at the University of Hawaii Maui College campus is still accepting applications.

The camp is a hands-on activity program that will introduce youths in grades 6-8 to the local food system.

Participants will experiment and learn about topics related to the growth, science and preparation of foods, including planting and cultivation, food safety and food skills, and nutrition and health. Activities will include plant DNA extraction, engineering hand pollinators, and sustainability.

The camp will be from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Community Services Building.

Cost is $5 per day and includes supplies. Each day will include different activities, so students do not need to participate in the first session to attend the second day. Children should bring their own lunch, snacks and water.
