Wood carver Folau Tupou will be present at the Makawao Maui Hands Gallery located at 1169 Makawao Ave., from 1 to 4 p.m. on May 22 and 29; and from 4 to 8 p.m. on May 19.

Born and raised on the North Shore of Oahu, Tupou learned the art of tiki carving at the age of 15 from his Uncle Lavaka, a famous wood carver and canoe builder. Tupou was taught to respect the different woods he used in his carvings.
