Mark your calendars for Empty Bowl Project event
Mark your calendars for the second annual Empty Bowl Project to be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on April 13 at Star Noodle in Lahaina.
Last year’s fundraiser sold out as fast as you can hand craft a ceramic bowl, and so will this one – especially since Star Noodle’s Chef Sheldon Simeon is as hot as it gets as a final contestant in Bravo Channel’s “Top Chef.”
The restaurant will team with the Maui Organization for Ceramic Arts (MOCA) to bring you inspired cuisine, outstanding art and great entertainment as a benefit for Maui Food Bank and Hale Mahaolu, two very worthy causes.
This year, artists from around Maui will create more than 300 hand crafted ceramic bowls to be sold for $25 each, as a donation at the event.
“The bowl you purchase is a keepsake to remind you of all the ’empty bowls’ in the world,” says Star Noodle’s director of marketing Kaala Buenconsejo.
The donation to the Maui Food Bank and Hale Mahaolu will allow you to visit a special noodle bar to be manned by Simeon and staff. You may create your own ramen or organic soba with a variety of garnishings.
In addition to the noodle bar, you’ll find a street fair setting under the stars with stands selling garlic noodles, nori chicken, hapa ramen, soba salad, desserts and beer, wine, sake and cocktails to buy with scrip. Call 667-5400.
