The Ritz to rock throughout week of July 4th

The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua is launching new food and beverage offerings starting Monday, featuring local ingredients, many sourced from the resort’s own on-site organic garden.

Launching Monday will be Japanese beer pairing dinners at Kai Sushi, as well as Liquid Chef mixology from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the resort’s Alaloa Lounge, where specialty priced beers and hand-crafted cocktails will flow; and the new Beach Bum Twist from 2 to 4 p.m. daily at the Beach House, where live music and drinks will let you kick back and relax in one of the most breathtaking settings on Maui.

“Gather and enjoy each other’s company and the Hawaiian culture throughout the summer launch,” says Deanna Miller, communications manager of the Ritz. “It will be highlighted by our July 4th Summer Splash Barbecue and Fashion Show on our lower pool deck, complete with games, shave ice and a dive-in movie for guests.”

The barbecue includes cold selections such as sliced tomatoes and blue cheese; potato salad with egg and celery; caraway coleslaw; sliced watermelon wedges, and Kula greens in lilikoi vinaigrette.

Pile your plate with hot selections such as barbecue baby-back pork ribs, chipotle barbecue chicken breast, local-style chili with Portuguese sausage, buttered corn on the cob, molasses and brown-sugar baked beans, and buttermilk chicken fingers, served with honey-mustard sauce.

For dessert, the Ritz’s Executive Chef John Zaner and his expert pastry team will bake hot apple pies and mango cobblers and cool you down with shave ice from the cart.

Cost is $50 for adults, $22 for children. For more details, call 669-6200.
