Local farmers market blooms at Ka‘anapali Fresh
Wanna crunch farm-fresh broccoli? What about sprinkling fresh herbs on your salad? Or grilling just-picked asparagus?
Then come to the free Grown on Maui Farmers’ Market at Whalers Village Fine Shops & Restaurants in Kaanapali from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31 as part of the Ka’anapali Fresh 2013 series of fine food events.
“Fresh, local and flavorful matter,” says Shelley Kekuna, executive director of the Ka’anapali Beach Resort Association. “We urge the community to join us for this and other tasty events in the Ka’aanapali Fresh series.”
Rest assured, all products to be offered for sale at the market are “grown on Maui.” Local farmers, food producers and chefs will be on hand to demonstrate uses and answer questions. The event brings together the resort and agricultural communities, and highlights the important role both play in Maui’s economy and with each other.
“We’re proud to collaborate with Ka’anapali Beach Resort to present the Grown on Maui market,” says Warren Watanabe, executive director, Maui County Farm Bureau.
“The market is the best way to meet farmers, learn about Maui agriculture, and buy produce, flowers and value-added agricultural products.”
Wake up to highlights such as breakfast items by Hula Grill and Leilani’s on the Beach – with chefs utilizing items from the market.
Participants include Aina Haumana, B. Otani Farm, J. Shishido Farm, Hana Fresh, Kula Fields, Napili Aqua Flo, Kula Country Farms, Maui Gold Pineapple Co., Maui Coffee Association, Neighborhood Farm, Ono Organic Farm, Syl’s Produce, SimpliFresh, Traje Farm, and more.
