Swiss Days at Brigit & Bernard’s Garden Cafe

With yodeling, alpine music and authentic foods of Switzerland as part of the mix, Swiss Days at Brigit & Bernard’s Garden Cafe in Kahului Industrial will be fun as usual.

“We celebrate Switzerland’s 722nd Independence Day from 6 p.m. to closing today and Friday with an all-you-can-eat Swiss buffet, Swiss trivia, a yodeling contest, and live music by Dorfmusikanten, aka the ‘village musicians,’ ” says chef-owner Bernard Weber, a native of Davos.

“This year’s Swiss trivia has all new questions and the all-you-can-eat buffet is purely Swiss, from the salad bar to the buendner teller (air-cured beef) to the Swiss bread and potatoes with the traditional melted raclette cheese.”

You’ll also find Swiss lasagne created by the alpine cowboys; risotto Ticinese with wild mushrooms from the Italian speaking part of Switzerland; chicken Zueri in creamy mushroom sauce; and rindsvoressen and herdoepfelstock (an authentic beef ragout with freshly mashed potatoes).

But there’s more. Let your taste buds travel into the heart of the Matterhorn with lentil soup, housemade mustards, breads, salami, bratwurst, roeschti potatoes and sauerkraut. Cost is $38 for buffet, plus tax and tip. Individual bratwurst and raclette plates and Swiss desserts and drinks such as chocolate mousse and kafi Schneehas are extra. Call 877-6000.
