5 Palms donates to Philippines with desserts
Five Palms restaurant at Mana Kai Resort in Kihei will continue to donate $2 for every dessert sold from Friday to Dec. 15 in support of American Red Cross response to Typhoon Haiyan’s devastation in the Philippines.
The management started the fund drive earlier this month and will take a one-day reprieve Thanksgiving Day, then continue for two weeks.
Desserts include signature pineapple creme brulee with Tahitian vanilla-bean custard and caramelized pineapple chunks in pineapple ring; Pele’s chocolate cake; lilikoi cheesecake housemade with Graham cracker crust; and Haleakala mud pie with piled high with Lappert’s ice cream.
With stellar views from its perch on Keawakapu Beach, 5 Palms will also offer a three-course turkey dinner and limited a la carte menu from 3 to 9 p.m. for Thanksgiving today. Savor kabocha pumpkin bisque or Kula greens, an entree of rosemary-scented turkey along with chestnut-sausage stuffing, garlic mashed potatoes, giblet gravy, Molokai sweet potatoes, fresh cranberry relish, seasonal vegetables and pumpkin dessert duo. Cost is $42.95. Or opt for just the turkey plate for $34.95; $21.95 for keiki ages 7 or younger. Wine suggestions include Robert Sinskey Aries pinot noir, Raymond reserve chardonnay and Concha Y Toro sauvignon blanc.
