Leoda’s baking holiday pies, breads
Leoda’s Kitchen & Pie Shop in tiny Olowalu is a popular pit stop for sandwiches made on freshly baked breads, both savory and sweet pies, farm fresh salads and more.
What many diners don’t know is that it’s backed by scores of chefs, under the umbrella of the same Hoaloha Na Eha restaurant group that owns Star Noodle, Old Lahaina Lu’au and Aloha Mixed Plate- with most food expertly coming from the same massive commissary.
For Thanksgiving, Leoda’s pie orders may be placed until noon Wednesday, or at least 24 hours before pick up.
“The sooner, the better,” says Pastry Chef Shelly Taylor. “We’ll bake pumpkin, apple and pecan pies. Of course, we’ll do our regular key lime, and cream pies such as chocolate, banana and coconut, and a new oatmeal walnut.”
Taylor will bake aromatic breads of multigrain, cranberry-orange, pumpkin chocolate chip and Hawaiian sweet rolls. Or buy pumpkin cakelets with spiced cream cheese icing. Special orders are welcome but require three days advance notice. Hours are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, with pie pickup until 2 p.m. Thanksgiving Day.
