Wine not? Hotel Wailea party benefits Hui No‘eau

Want to sip fine wines by the finest California vintners as you savor pupu by acclaimed island chefs?

Then come to Li’ula i Wailea, or “Twilight at Wailea,” starting at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Hotel Wailea. It’s the seventh annual benefit for Hui No’eau Visual Arts Center’s programs.

Held in the hotel’s vaulted Anuhea Room with views of ponds, waterfalls, manicured grounds and the ocean, the event includes generous tastes-such as snapper crudo with sorrel, toasted chia and Meyer lemon by Capische? to smoked north shore tako with spicy mayo, masago, pipi kaula with green bottle beer foam by Mala Wailea. Five Palms Chef Preston Hope will make ahi-avocado summer rolls with spicy mint mignonette; and Spago Sous Chef Peleg Miron will wow with the restaurant’s signature spicy ahi poke in sesame-miso cones. Three’s Bar & Grill will also be impressing attendees.

Chambers & Chambers Wine Merchants will bring in 42 wineries to the islands to celebrate 40 years in the biz and for trade shows. The celebration will flow with wines from Far Niente, Nickel & Nickel, Robert Sinskey, Bonny Doon, Ramey, Talley, J Winery, Calera, Frog’s Leap and more.

Wailea Wine and Wine Corner stores will each have a table, helping to pour. Bid on an array of live and silent auction items, all for an artworthy cause. General tickets are $150; VIP tickets are $250. Call 572-6560 or visit
