A Taste of Asian Blend
Indulge in island cuisine cooked by top chefs, listen to music by Asian Blend and others, and view Baldwin High School art at King Kamehameha and Hooheno Ballrooms in Waikapu from 5:30 to 11:30 p.m. Saturday.
The event is dedicated to former Baldwin High School Principal and Mediation Services of Maui founder Michael M. Hazama and his wife, the late Jean Hazama. Their son, Mitch Hazama, performs in the headlining Asian Blend, Hawaii’s longest-running variety dance band.
Mitch’s son and their grandson, Colin Hazama, is a James Beard Award semifinalist as well as executive sous chef of Starwood’s Sheraton Waikiki Resort.
Mitch will entertain with the band, while Colin will cook tapas fare with his idol and mentor Beverly Gannon of Gannon’s family of restaurants on Maui along with Tom Muromoto of Ka’anapali Beach Hotel, Jennifer Nguyen of A Saigon Cafe, Leslie Frankel-Avilla of Pukalani Clubhouse, Mika Hesia of Restaurant Matsu, Tom Lelli of The Class Act restaurant and Eddie Munoz of King Kamehameha Golf Club.
Scholarships will be donated to the H.P Baldwin High School Foundation and the UH-Maui Culinary Academy. For tickets or more details, call 385-6006.
