Maui Brewers festival
Did you know, great minds drink alike? Yes! That’s why island beer lovers are brainstorming to get together to celebrate the “mother of all craft beer weeks” with a party from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday.
Maui Arts & Cultural Center will set a fun stage for the sixth annual Maui Brewers Festival at A&B Amphitheater and Yokouchi Pavilion in Kahului.
“Maui Brewers Festival is a jam-packed value for foodies, a fundraiser for MACC’s arts and community programs, and a fun afternoon for everyone involved!” says Barbara Trecker, marketing director.
This year, the festival will feature two craft brews each from 30 cutting-edge breweries, and festival goers may graze on island-style food pairings from 24 local restaurants and caterers.
Sip Watermelon Wheat by Lost Coast Brewery, slurp Liver Let Die by Headlands and gulp Coffee Porter by Smog City Brewing as you munch famous fries with gourmet sauces by Teddy’s Bigger Burger and crunch fresh Upcountry salads by Three’s Bar & Grill.
Bring your low-back beach chairs and blankets and kick back for an afternoon of fun under the palms. Toast to your friends. Then get up and dance awhile.
The entertainment lineup includes three hot Maui bands, including The Throwdowns, LiA LiVE & Hi ground and Jamie Gallo with Simply Twisted.
Bring some extra money for an official festival T-shirt, made especially for Maui Brewers Festival by Crazy Shirts. There will be prize giveaways throughout the day. Be smart and organize a designated driver in advance or get a phone number of a taxi company. Take note that you must be 21 or older to attend.
This year, breweries from Hawaii, California, Oregon, Colorado, Michigan, Illinois and Delaware will send their brewmaster or representative to chat up revelers at various tents scattered about.
Breweries are selected because of their commitment to making craft beer in which quality, flavor and locally-sourced ingredients come first. A new addition to the lineup is Maui Stone Craft Beverages that will soon be distributing in Hawaii.
“We’re excited for yet another amazing Maui Brewers Festival!” exclaims Garrett Morrero of Maui Brewing Co., one of the event partners. “We’re debuting a special beer brewed using super-heated lava rocks made in collaboration with BrewDogs for the filming of their television show on the Esquire network.”
Indulge in beers by Boston Beer Company, Caldera, Lost Abbey, Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales, Great Divide, Pizza Port, Rogue, St. Archer and Uncommon Brewers, among the 30 participants.
Food vendors include MiGRANT, Mulligans on the Blue, Fleetwood’s on Front St., Brigit & Bernards, Maui Tacos, Sansei, Star Anise and many more.
