The Hui No’eau Visual Arts Center is excited to announce a new partnership with the Maui Huliau Foundation to reduce waste at its 10th Annual Hui No’eau Wailea Food & Wine Celebration from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Hotel Wailea.

Ticket and silent auction sales directly support the Hui’s Open Studio program, which allows students and artists to be guided by skilled teaching artists or independently with access to professional studios, equipment and tools. This program embodies the Hui’s philosophy of building community, bringing artists together to share knowledge and skills, and create at their own pace.

“Sustainability is important to us at the Hui No’eau Visual Arts Center,” says Executive Director Caroline Killhour. “The Hui has transitioned to being nearly 100 percent solar powered in 2016. Partnering with the Maui Huliau Foundation for our Hui No’eau Wailea Food & Wine Celebration and future Hui events is one more step we are taking toward a more environmentally responsible future.”

Maui Huliau Foundation Executive Director Malia Cahill adds, “We are excited to partner with other nonprofits like the Hui No’eau to help them reduce waste at their event as part of our new Huliau Zero Waste Events program.”

The evening’s culinary creations and wines will be provided by acclaimed Maui restaurants and vendors  including The Restaurant at Hotel Wailea, Chambers & Chambers Wine Merchants, MauiWine, Three’s Bar & Grill, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Cuatro Restaurant, the new Grape to Glass Wine Tasting, 5 Palms Restaurant and Valley Isle Kombucha.

Chef Mi Jin from Ka’ana Kitchen will be tempting guests with a house-cured charcuterie, compressed Maui pineapple and savory granola, as well as a Maui gold pineapple and li hing mui panna cotta. Guests can also look forward to chili verde empanadas and a Mexican seafood chowder by Chef Eric Arbogast from Cuatro Restaurant.

Standard tickets are $150 ($70 tax deductible) and premium tickets are $250 ($170 tax deductible). For reservations, call 572-6560.
