The same mother-and-daughter team that brought back exotic Thai food to Front Street in Lahaina last year, is at it again.

The owners of Tiki Tiki Thai Cuisine, mother Panompon “Pon” Jares and daughter Parichart Chahong, have opened Shaka Sushi Maui at The Wharf Cinema Center near their first restaurant.

After months of renovation, Shaka Sushi Maui is now open and serving tasty and handcrafted sushi and Japanese-style bento boxes.

Already pegged “Lahaina’s newest sushi hot spot,” it offers everyone’s favorite rolls such as shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, Dragon and Rainbow.

Located near the bus stop, Shaka Sushi Maui provides quick and convenient to-go sushi bentos for anyone in a hurry. Happy hour is from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday offering $5 select sushi as well as appetizers.

Shaka Sushi Maui is located on the mid level, space No. 140, and is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. For take-out and more details, call the restaurant at 661-9911.

The Wharf Cinema Center is located at 658 Front St. in Historic Lahaina Town, across the street from the famous Banyan Tree.

Validated parking is available directly behind the center, accessible from Wainee and Luakini streets.
