Festival foods highlighted at UH-Maui College event
University of Hawaii Maui College Culinary Arts’ Garde Manger students will present a buffet event from 5 to 7 p.m. April 13. What is garde manger, you ask? It’s the preparation of foods such as pates, terrines and appetizers from a cold pantry.
Next Thursday’s event will highlight the flavors of four international festivals with tasting stations based on foods of Chinese New Year, Obon, Mardi Gras and Dia de los Muertes.
The stations will line the upper balcony of the Pa’ina Building and The Leis Family Class Act Restaurant. In addition, there will be a dessert table and a cash bar for beer and wine.
“I think guests should prepare themselves for a truly memorable experience,” says Chef-Instructor Craig Omori.
Cost is $75 per person and $125 for limited VIP seats. All proceeds support the Culinary Arts Program. Visit www.opentable.com or call 984-3280.
