Lahaina Coolers uncorks its monthly wine tasting Friday

Tucked away on Dickenson Street from busy Front Street, Lahaina Coolers is a fun West Maui hangout for locals and for tourists who are savvy enough to find it. It will uncork its monthly wine dinner Friday.

Chef and GM Sean Stover will once again cook a three-course meal paired with some nice wines to be poured by George Howard of Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits of Hawaii.

“Sure, Lahaina Coolers is a bit off the beaten path, but we’re becoming renowned for our monthly wine dinners and we have a fun bar scene and late-night cuisine and we serve breakfast, lunch, three happy hours, dinner and to-go meals,” says Stover, also a bartender.

The wine dinner kicks off at 6:30 p.m. with crab and cheese croissants with sweet and sour sauce paired with Robert Mondavi fume blanc. Next will be a tomato-basil bisque paired with chardonnay by Robert Mondavi.

The entree is braised short ribs paired with Black Stallion pinot noir. The cost of $65 per person that includes dinner and wines is at the low end of the price spectrum on Maui. Call 661-7082.
