Tiki Terrace rolls out new menu items
One of West Maui’s favorite open-air restaurants, the Ka’anapali Beach Hotel’s Tiki Terrace, recently introduced a new dinner menu under the leadership of award-winning Executive Chef Tom Muromoto, named “The Best Chef on Maui” in the 2017 Best of Maui contest in The Maui News.
“We’re always inspired by foods of the island first, because it’s our culture, but it doesn’t stop there,” says Muromoto. “We as chefs pick up so many ideas, from travels, foods that we eat, reading, knowledge that we get from others and much more.
“It never stops, and we in the industry cannot close the doors to learning. It’s exciting and I try to make sure my chefs welcome it.”
The new menu introduces items such as a prosciutto salad, mini poke bowls, short ribs and jumbo shrimp scampi.
The menu boasts traditional favorites such as Hawaiian laulau (a pouch of ti leaves with pork, chicken, fish and taro leaves all steamed inside).
Other award-winners are Muromoto’s Koala lamb chops; and Seafood Lawalu, served in a flavorful porcini dashi jus with a splash of white truffle oil, choy sum greens and aloha.
“All of the signature dishes are either guest favorites from nightly specials or are popular chef creations,” Muromoto says. “We take pride in our work and care about what we serve.”
Keiki 5 years and younger eat for free with paying adult. Tiki Terrace breakfast hours are 6:30 to 11 a.m. Monday to Saturday; brunch is served from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sundays; and dinner daily from 6 to 9 p.m. Call 667-0124.
