The Montage Kapalua Bay reopens Cliff House pop-up

Montage Kapalua Bay welcomes back the Champagne Hale at Cliff House, a Veuve Clicquot bar and lounge, from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday. The pop-up will continue Thursdays to Sundays through Sept. 1, with Aug. 4 being the exception.

Champagne Hale at Cliff House will be open to the public to enjoy the finest sunsets while sampling a variety of Champagnes perfectly paired with an innovative pairing menu. This season, it will celebrate the 200th anniversary of Veuve Clicquot Rose Champagne by pouring the limited-edition bottles made especially for this bicentennial celebration.

As the only venue in Hawaii to pour these refined Champagne labels, the Cliff House also uses inspired mixology to create drinks over ice with fresh ingredients such as pineapple and citrus.

“We are excited to bring back this innovative experience to our guests and visitors this summer,” enthuses Montage Kapalua Bay Managing Director and Vice President Richard Holtzman. “The 2017 season, which was our first year presenting the Champagne Hale at Cliff House, proved to be a huge success, and we look forward to continuing to offer this one-of-a-kind venue this summer.”

Nestled on the cliffs of Namalu Bay, the Cliff House provides breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean, Molokai and Lanai. The original structure was built in 1940 as a fun facility for managers of the historic Honolua Plantation. Today it’s adorned in signature Veuve Clicquot yellow with surfboards and a beach-chic environment.

Champagnes are Veuve Clicquot Rich and Rich Rose, the signature Yellow Label, Non-Vintage Rose and La Grande Dame, available by the glass and in a special “sunset tasting flight.” Light bites are Kualoa oysters on the half shell with black-truffle ponzu, raspberry-ume sambal and mignonette; Thai watermelon with Kula goat cheese; bigeye tuna tartare; fresh mozzarella with tomatoes and Kula strawberry shortcake.
