THE BRITISH BLUES EXPLOSION CONCERT
The British Blues Explosion will feature performances by the “Godfather of British Blues” and living legend, John Mayall; and blues icon, Kim Simmonds, guitarist and founder of British Blues super group Savoy Brown. Simmonds will open the show with a rare acoustic set, then join Mayall and The Bluesbreakers. At intermission, take part in a live auction for an autographed guitar and other instruments, with proceeds benefiting the Hawai’i Lifeguard Association’s Jr. Lifeguard program. PROARTS’ ‘THE PRISONER OF SECOND AVENUE’
ProArts wraps up its run of “The Prisoner of Second Avenue” this week, with a performance at 7:30 p.m. in the ProArts Playhouse in Kihei. MAUI BREWERS FEST BEER DINNER EVENT
The fifth annual Maui Brewers Festival will open this year with a new Maui Brew Fest Beer Dinner from 6 to 9 p.m. at Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s Morgado Hall. This beer education celebration will feature cuisine of the New Americas by Cactus Bistro Chef-Owner John Memering of Kailua. Each of the five courses will be paired with specialty craft beers by Maui Brewing Co. of Lahaina. Chef Memering and Garrett Marrero, owner of Maui Brewing Co, will introduce the courses and explain the pairings. Guests will learn from these masters just how well handcrafted beer goes with fine dining. Locally sourced ingredients will be highlighted in the dishes as well as the craft beers.
