GREEN SEA TURTLE RELEASE EVENT
Maui Ocean Center will release six juvenile green sea turtles into the ocean from the shores of Ka’anapali Beach fronting Ka’anapali Beach Hotel. The free event begins at 9 a.m., with festivities and educational opportunities, including presentations by local marine biologists, researchers and community members, informational booths, a turtle encounter, live music and more. At 10:30 a.m., the turtles will each receive a blessing prior to be being released into to the ocean. A special parking rate of $5 will be available at Ka’anapali Beach Hotel, with validation. DAVID CROSBY AND GRAHAM NASH
David Crosby and Graham Nash will team up to perform a special benefit concert at 7:30 p.m. at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s Castle Theater. The concert will also feature Jackson Browne as a guest, and Crosby’s son, James Raymond. Cost is $45, $55, $75, and $95 (which includes premium seating and autographed Crosby & Nash DVD), with a limited number of $150 seats (which includes premium seating and post show meet and greet), plus applicable fees. Show proceeds will benefit Crosby’s friend, Bob Benavides, who needs a wheelchair accessible van for his 10-year-old daughter, Ruth. FREE HAWAIIAN MUSIC SERIES IN LAHAINA
Enjoy live Hawaiian music during the monthly Hawaiian Music Series, happening the final Thursday of each month, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on the Baldwin Home lawn. Kamakoa Lindsey will perform, with special guest Ikaika Blackburn. Chairs are limited, and blankets, mats and low beach chairs are welcome. The Merwin Conservancy will launch its new literary salon series, The Green Room, with talks by writer Alexander Maksik and Maui-based photographer Daniel Sullivan from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Fort Faught Studio in Makawao.
