MAUI JAZZ & BLUES FESTIVAL KICKOFF EVENTS

The seventh annual Maui Jazz & Blues Festival will kickoff at Duke’s Beach House and Hula Grill in Kaanapali. Hear Jimmy D. Lane, Bobby Watson, Jo-El Sonnier, Benny Uyetake and Rock Hendricks at Duke’s from 5 to 7 p.m. Hula Grill will be featuring the Jazz Alley TV Trio from 6 to 9 p.m.

AKAKU UPSTAIRS SALON SERIES CONTINUES

Akaku Upstairs presents Teri Freitas Gorman, Director of Community Relations and Patient Affairs with Maui Grown Therapies, focusing on the life and times of medical marijuana on Maui from 6 to 8 p.m. at 333 Dairy Road, Suite 204 in Kahului. SEE PORTRAITS OF MARINE INVERTEBRATES

“Spineless” by Susan Middleton brings a new body of work exploring the mysterious world of marine invertebrates at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s Schaefer International Gallery in Kahului. OBON FESTIVAL AT HANA BUDDHIST TEMPLE

Hana Buddhist Temple presents its third annual Obon festival at 5 p.m. The temple is located on Hana Highway, just past Hasegawa General Store on the Hana Fairgrounds below Hana Ranch Store.
