ANNUAL LEI-MAKING EVENT HONORS VETERANS.

Celebrate Memorial Day Weekend by participating in something meaningful — Maui County’s annual “Blossoms for the Brave” — from 9 a.m. to noon on the front lawn of the County Building in Wailuku. The lei-making event, co-hosted by Kaunoa Senior Services, the Department of Housing and Human Concerns and the Office of Mayor Alan Arakawa, seeks to involve the community in the construction of close to 3,000 lei to be placed on veterans’ graves on Memorial Day at Maui Veterans Cemetery in Makawao. Enjoy live music and free shuttle service to and from ample parking at Ichiro “Iron”Maehara Baseball Stadium. Flower donations and pre-sewn leis longer than 16 inches (before tying) are welcome. There is no charge for admission. For more information, call 270-7308 or 270-4310.
