ENJOY COOL SAND, STARRY SKIES, A SOFT BREEZE AND SELECTED SHORTS.

Among the most popular events associated with Maui Film Festival is the complimentary

community screening from 8 to 10:30 p.m. on beautiful Wailea Beach near Four Seasons Resort Maui. This year, “Toes in the Sand” presents two short-film programs: Hawai’i Short Film Showcase and Long Story Shorts. The first features six films centering around the local and global influences of Hawaii, including a documentary on Big Island chocolate farming and the importance of Kaho’olawe as sacred land. Long Story Shorts follows with a series of provocative films spanning a variety of subject matter, from a mathematician living off the grid in Maui’s jungles, a story based on the 1992 riots and tension between L.A.’s Korean and African-American populations; and a young girl whose world changes when an enchanting wirewalker comes to town.
