GO FLY A KITE — KITE KITS, PRIZES, BIG RUN
Kite lovers, head down to the third annual Kite Festival, hosted by the Japanese Cultural Society of Maui, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Keopuolani Park Field No. 8 (near Maui Arts & Cultural Center) in Kahului. Bring your own kite or decorate kite kits with colored markers for a $5 donation to JCSM. Prizes will be awarded to the best decorated kites and best kite fliers at noon. Water will be provided. SIERRA CLUB MAUI HIKES WAILEA 670 PRESERVE
Visit the stone walls and prominent cultural complexes in Wailea 670 Preserve and help take photos of rare native plants. The two-mile round trip terrain is rugged, so closed shoes, long pants and good balance a must. Bring water and a camera. Meet at 3 p.m. at the top of Kaukahi Rd. in Wailea. The hike is limited to 18 participants, and a $5 donation ($3 for Sierra Club members) is requested of hikers over the age of 14. EXPERIENCE THE WORLD AND LIFE OF DINOSAURS
Life-size robotic dinosaurs, cute baby dinosaurs, skeletons, fossil digs, rides, Dino Bounce section, a Dinosaur band and more can be found from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday in Jurassic Tour at Queen Ka’ahumanu Center in Kahului. Admission for adults ages 13 and older is $29; admission for children ages 2 to 12 years is $39 and includes unlimited access to the fossil dig, bounce castles, carnival-style games, unlimited dino rocking and ATV rides, bungee pull and more. CLEAN UP KANAHA BEACH PARK, PROTECT SEA LIFE
Join volunteers assisting Maui Ocean Center and MOC Marine Institute from 7 to 11 a.m. in cleaning up Kanaha Beach Park in Kahului. Located on the windward side, Kanaha Beach collects all kinds of marine debris on land and reef, including buoys, ghost nets and plenty of plastic.
