2013-14 FirstLight Schedule

Presented by the Maui Film Festival and screened at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s Castle Theater, FirstLight films are $15 per showing. Buy a VIP FastPass at $48 and get access to any four FirstLight movies, valid through January; FastPasses can be shared with family and friends. The free screening of “2hours. 2create. 2morrow.” on Sunday will allow viewers to explore solutions to many of the challenges facing Maui and beyond, according to FirstLight curator Barry Rivers.

The FirstLight two-part showings will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. in Castle Theater and from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the CandleLight Cafe at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center. Part one will introduce eight social, cultural and environmental activists, who will speak for six minutes each, including Brad Albert, Irene Bowie, Linda Booker, Azeem Butt, Joe Marshalla, Vince Mina, Char O’Brien and one surprise speaker. At part two, viewers will have a Q&A and talk story session with speakers.

Life Foods will offer food for purchase, and the MACC will have organic wine, cocktails, craft beers and dessert, coffee and tea vendors.
