Maui Film Festival FirstLight screenings continue Tuesday

Tuesday screenings at the MACC: “Loving” at 3 p.m.

The Maui Film Festival’s 18th annual FirstLight: Academy Screenings on Maui continues at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s Castle Theater.

3 p.m. Tuesday

“LOVING” PG-13, 2:03. Biography, drama.

Richard and Mildred Loving, an interracial couple, are sentenced to prison in Virginia in 1958 for getting married. Starring Ruth Negga, Joel Edgerton and Will Dalton.

Tuesday screenings at the MACC: “Neruda” at 5:30 p.m.

5:30 p.m. Tuesday

“NERUDA” R, 1:47. Biography, drama.

An inspector hunts down Nobel Prize-winning Chilean poet  Pablo Neruda, who becomes a fugitive in his home country in the late 1940s for joining the Communist Party. Starring  Gael Garcia Bernal, Luis Gnecco and Alfredo Castro.

7:30 p.m. Tuesday

“TANNA” NR, 1:40. Drama, romance.

Tuesday screenings at the MACC: “Tanna” at 7:30 p.m.

Set on a remote Pacific island, covered in rain forest and dominated by an active volcano, this heartfelt story, enacted by the Yakel tribe, tells of a sister’s loyalty, a forbidden love affair and the pact between the old ways and the new. Starring  Mungau Dain and Marie Wawa.
