Pet of the Week

Ever wish you had a sweet and snuggly friend who will always be there for you? I’d love to be that perfect pal who will always make you smile! My name is Honeysuckle, No. 40A, and I’m a 7-year-old, spayed female who could use a friend like you. I was found all skin and bones out in Lahaina on Nov. 13, and when I got my check-up they found out that I have heartworms. I was all set to start my treatment, but sadly my foster parent had a change of plans that meant they couldn’t keep me anymore. Now that the clock is ticking on my treatment, I’m really hoping a new family will come for me soon. A foster family that will give me a calm and loving environment would be nice, but a forever one would be even better! I’m sure to impress with my commands, like sit, lay-down and rolling over for belly rubs, and I’ll even “shake,” too. So if you’d like to help give me a chance to start a new beginning and healthy life, hurry on down and ask for Honeysuckle today!

Sweet survivor Noodle, No. 6, is ready to start a new beginning with you. Even though I’m just 5 months old, these eyes of mine have seen quite a bit. It all changed the day I was found in Kihei on Oct. 30. I had an enlarged tear duct that was in need of some help. Thanks to donations in the “Hope Fund,” I was able to get the medicine and finally the surgery I needed to get better. I had to have a tube on my eyelid to help it heal, so that’s how I got the name Noodle. During my months in the Vet department, I really got a glimpse of everything that comes through the shelter. I loved sitting by my furry friends and helping them wake up from surgery when I wasn’t busy racing around and playing with my toys. I can still be a bit bashful and independent at times, but give me a few chin rubs and watch me melt right into you. So please stop by and meet me, then hopefully these eyes will finally see their way home with you!

Looking for a fun, new friend who is sure to keep you smiling? Well, my name is Blue, No. 100B, and the only thing serious about me is my Shar-Pei wrinkles! As a 5-year-old, 36-pound adult male, I’m up for anything if it’s gonna be fun. Since I’m up to date on all my shots, I’d be the perfect companion to take hiking or running, or for even just having a blast at the beach. I love to play with my toys, prance by your side on my leash and will even sit on commands for tasty treats, too. I was a good boy for my last owners as well, but sadly they realized they had too many pets to care for and brought me to Maui Humane Society on Dec. 27. Now I’m looking for a fun new forever family to shower with all my love. I’m hoping someone out there is looking for a goofball with a heart of gold to give a new beginning this year. If that sounds like you, come on down and ask for your boy Blue today!

Need a quiet cutie who is content to hop about, eat fresh greens and bask in your love? Then you need a really cool rabbit just like me, Grayson, rabbit No. 5. I’m an easygoing 5-pound adult male who was found a hoppin’ and a boppin’ around Kihei on Nov. 27. Like most of my friends over in the Critter Corner, I’ve been waiting longer than most of the others at the shelter. I guess folks forget to stop by and see us sometimes. That’s why I sure am glad to have the chance to tell you that we love to make new friends just like all the others do. So if you’re in need of a fluffy coated friend, then I’d sure love to be the sweet and soulful guy for you!

Sweet old boy Bogie, No. 34B, needs a fresh start with you today! Ever feel like you are in the wrong place and just can’t seem to get used to it no matter how long you are there? Well, as a 10-year-old neutered male Labrador/chow mix, being in a shelter environment is very hard for me. All these younger, stronger, “cuter” dogs around have got me all worked up; and don’t even get me started on kennel life. Take me out of the kennels and I’m a happy-go-lucky guy with a smile on my face and a tail that’s always wagging. I love to cruise at the park, play fetch and most of all make you as happy as I can. Put me back in the kennel and sadly I start to get agitated and feel all boxed in and trapped. That’s why being here since November has been pretty hard on me. I really love human companionship, so I really can’t wait to be back in a loving home where I can be myself again. If you are ready to give a sweet senior one more chance at a love-filled life, then stop on by and ask for Bogie today!
