Jewelers Coleen d’Avignon and Terri Saunders opened Wailuku’s first artist collective, Art on Market, in April and they wasted little time showing their commitment to giving back to Maui’s community.

Every First Friday, during which they stay open until 9 p.m., Art on Market presents “Bucks for Ducks.” This is a fundraising event for a different charity selected each month. Past months, d’Avignon and Saunders have raised money for the Historic Iao Theater, the Maui Humane Society and Habitat For Humanity Maui.

This Friday, the selected charity is Wounded Warriors Project, a charity and veterans service organization that offers a variety of programs, services and events for wounded veterans of the military actions following the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attack.

Art on Market is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays. For more information, visit www.art onmarket.com or call 727-2543.
