• University of Hawaii Maui College Master Gardener horticultural training program will host an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at UH-MC, 310 Ka’ahumanu Ave., Kahului in the Community Services Building. The class begins in January, continuing through May 2018, on Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to noon. • Business workshops. The following County of Maui Mayor’s Office of Economic Development workshops will be held at Maui County Business Resource Center, Maui Mall, Suite B-9. To reserve a seat, call 270-5770. Workshops are free unless otherwise noted.
** “Improve Your Selling: Speak Less — Sell More” with Marc Levine will be from noon to 1:45 p.m. Tuesday. In this fun, highly interactive workshop, you will do less talking and more problem solving while providing more solutions which equals sales for your business. Learn how to relieve the pressure of decision-making and empower people to buy.
** “Finding Balance” with Mira Nissim will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Learn how to find balance in your life as an entrepreneur. We will incorporate Montessori techniques to educate people on a more personal level and slow down for effectiveness. We will also discuss strategies to keep the main areas of your life in balance while working hard as an entrepreneur.
** “Quickbooks for Small Business” with Richard Kehoe will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Learn to set up your company’s QuickBooks in a small class setting with personalized tutoring. This class is for new users and will teach you how to record sales, receive payments, prepare invoices and balance your checkbook. Get customized answers and schedule a follow-up appointment at no cost to discuss your solutions. Sponsored by Service Corps of Retired Executives. Cost is $45. Free counseling sessions with experienced SCORE and Small Business Development Corp. counselors are from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Thursdays and from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Fridays.
