Hear Vegetarian Society talk about farm animals
A talk by Lauralee Blanchard on “Paradise Found! What Farm Animals Teach Us About Compassionate Living” will be held at 7 p.m. Jan. 11 in J. Walter Cameron Center at 95 Mahalani St., in Wailuku.
Blanchard is founder of the Leilani Farm Sanctuary, an all-volunteer, nonprofit in Haiku that is home to nearly 300 rescued animals from ducks to goats.
She has penned a new memoir that details the sanctuary. Her presentation will examine the truth about animal exploitation and explore better ways to live; how we can make new and informed food choices and align our choices with compassion, which optimizes physical health in sustainable ways.
Hosted by the Vegetarian Society of Hawaii, the event is free; no reservations are needed. Food will be provided by Down to Earth in Kahului.
