Best Buddies Hawaii will host its inaugural Holiday Friendship Jam from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the historic Iao Theater in Wailuku on the set of “Elf.”

This year’s entertainers are singer Amy Hanaiali’i, the Maui group Kanekoa with lead singer and rhythm ukulele player and band namesake Kaulana Kanekoa along with Vince Esquire on lead ukulele and backup vocals, Travis Rice on congas and Don Lopez on electric bass.

Hanaiali’i remains Hawaii’s top-selling female vocalist of all time with five Grammy nominations for Best Hawaiian Music Album.

Kanekoa describes its music as ukulele-powered Hawaiian reggae folk rock.

All Holiday Friendship Jam proceeds help support Best Buddies Hawaii programs assisting youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities at eight schools here on Maui along with young adults with Down syndrome, autism, Fragile X, Williams syndrome, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury and other undiagnosed disabilities.

Tickets are $20 for students, $30 for general admission, and $40 VIP, which includes a Wai Bar after-party with drinks and heavy pupu. (Wai Bar is across Market Street from the Historic Iao Theater.) For tickets, call 242-6962.
