Celebrating its 10th biennial presentation at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 3, Ebb & Flow Arts returns to the Castle Theater at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center in Kahului.

World-renowned violinist and concert master of the Hawai’i Symphony, Ignace Jang, will perform along with Sung Chan Chang on cello and Robert Pollack on piano, as Ebb & Flow Ensemble. Chang is associate principal cellist of Hawai’i Symphony and Pollack is director and founder of E&FA.

The event features a chamber music concert, which includes contemporary Korean music and classics. Jang will perform a notoriously difficult solo piece by Korea’s most famous 20th century composer, Isang Yun. The work, “Konigliches Thema,” employs a theme that Johann Sebastian Bach used in his “Musical Offering.”

Additional Korean works include Eugene Lee’s “Etude #3” for piano and Sun Young Park’s “Heem” for violin, cello and piano.

Other pieces on the program include Maurice Ravel’s “Sonata” for violin and cello and the last work by iconic American composer Henry Cowell, “Trio” for violin, cello and piano.

Kailash, a holy mountain, as well as an interview with His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. Also on the program are short films “Florotica,” with special Cinemaroma, by Dr. Gary Greenberg, and “Stars,” which is based on a Korean poem, by Peter Swanzy.

There will be a pre-concert discussion for tickets holders beginning at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $30 (plus applicable fees) and are available at the box office, by calling 242-7469 or online at www.mauiarts.org. Keiki 12 years and younger are half price.
