IN THE SPOTLIGHT . . . Maui’s adults-only boutique property, Hotel Wailea, was recently named the “No. 1 Resort in Hawaii” for the second year in a row in a Conde Nast Traveler readers poll.

Fun guest offerings that keep it running ahead of the pack include its brand-new, state-of-the-art test kitchen that can host interactive cooking classes by Executive Chef Zach Sato; and a vintage ’57 Porsche that is available for guests to take island cruises.

Ka’anapali Beach Hotel was also named the No. 1 Hotel in Hawaii, and its Sunday champagne brunch keeps drawing in the crowds. KBH Executive Chef Tom Muromoto and Executive Sous Chef Chris Napoleon do an amazing array of local and international favorites.

Speaking of things that are happening in the Ka’anapali Resort, numerous superstar chefs will descend on island Friday through Sunday for the eighth annual Hawaii Food & Wine Festival. Tickets are going, going, almost gone — so hurry and make a res.

“We are thrilled to have a great collection of island chefs and the extraordinary group of internationally renowned chefs all working together in Kaanapali,” says the bubbly Shelley Kekuna, executive director of Ka’anapali Beach Resort Association.

“I especially want to thank Denise Yamaguchi and her incredible team for all of their coordination and execution of a world class event in a world class setting. Tickets are still available so don’t wait to purchase. This is the ‘not to be missed’ event of the year on Maui.”
