* Hawaiian Carpet One/Ha-waiian Ceramic Tile has recently hired Kekoa J. Kawakami to its manager trainee program.
Kawakami is the son of company President Myles Kawakami.
Kekoa Kawakami is a Baldwin High School graduate. He earned a degree in economics from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He previously worked on Oahu for three years.
* Financial & Investment Management Group Ltd. has recently hired three new employees in its Maui office.
Hayley Wood is responsible for financial planning and wealth management for clients out of the Maui office. She has met the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards certification and renewal requirements.
She has a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing, finance and banking with a concentration in certified financial planning from Appalachian State University in 2009.
Kris Kozub has been hired as a trading associate and is a member of the portfolio management team. He has more than 14 years of experience modeling and trading, with the accompanying risk and finance management. Prior to joining FIM Group, he was a floor trader and team leader in the trading pits of Chicago and Philadelphia, specializing in U.S. Equity Index and foreign currency options.
Korena Burgio is part of the company’s client services team. She graduated with honors from Skidmore College in 2011. She is a Fulbright Scholarship recipient. And, she spent the last two years teaching English and volunteering with North Korean refugees in South Korea.

* Tanya Matthews has been named the new regional director of sales and marketing at The Fairmont Kea Lani. She will oversee all group and transient sales, public relations and catering/conference services for the resort. As the regional director, she also will oversee sales at the Fairmont Orchid on the Big Island’s Kohala Coast.
Matthews has more than 15 years experience in hospitality sales. She joined Fairmont Hotels & Resorts in 2000.
She has held various sales leadership positions at the luxury hotels in the United States and Canada. She was most recently director of sales and marketing at The Fairmont Olympic Hotel in Seattle.
* St. Anthony Junior Senior High School has hired Cheryl Pokipala, a 1979 alumnus, as the school’s new admissions director and registrar, the school announced.
Following high school graduation, Pokipala received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Portland.
She has extensive experience in interviewing and assessing families and individuals for service based on financial needs and in creating and sustaining partnerships on island and in the state, the school said.
