Facebook and business topic of event
The Maui Economic Development Board and Facebook will host an event Sunday for those operating small businesses to learn best practices, to hear success stories and to learn strategies to grow, manage and understand their small-business identity on Facebook.
The free event will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the King Kamehameha Golf Club’s Waikapu Ballroom.
More than 1 billion people are on Facebook, the event announcement said. “Learn how to reach the right audience for your business and turn them into loyal customers,” the news release said.
Clothing designer to manufacture on Maui
Los Angeles clothing designer Luis Diaz has moved his garment manufacturing factory to the Valley Isle.
Diaz visited Maui last year and fell in love with the landscape, according to a news release. He promptly decided to trade in the busy and hectic “L.A. life” and move his operations to the island. He recently finished setting up his 4,000-square-foot factory along Lower Main Street in Wailuku, and hopes to provide the local community with on-island manufacturing service.
“All (fashion) designers and business owners with ideas for clothing they want to produce, now they don’t have to go somewhere else. It can be made on Maui,” Diaz said.
