Construction delayed for shopping center

LIHUE- Developers aren’t saying why a planned Lihue shopping center is being delayed.

There was a groundbreaking for the Hokulei Village Shopping Center in February. Developers pledged to have it open as early as the end of the year. Now they say it will open sometime next summer, but won’t explain the delay.

“We are excited for the opening of Hokulei Village Shopping Center next year, and look forward to serving the island of Kauai,” Gerry Wolfe, Property Development Centers vice president for development, wrote in an email.
