Churches support meals for the needy program
As part of their continuous community support for Hale Kau Kau, the “Daily Meals For The Needy” program of St. Theresa Church, several churches in South Maui are again working together to help promote the upcoming Hale Kau Kau 14th annual fundraiser March 2 in the Wailea Beach Marriott Resort and Spa’s Aulani Ballroom.
The event will feature island-style music and entertainment by vocalist and guitarist Nathan Aweau, live and silent auctions and a Pacific Rim buffet dinner. The theme of the annual event is “Music Feeds the Soul.”
Support for the Hale Kau Kau program is provided by Kihei Lutheran Church, Trinity Episcopal Church by the Sea, and Keolahou Church. Representatives serve on the advisory board of Hale Kau Kau, and all the churches collaborate in providing emergency food supplies to individuals and families in crisis through the facilities at the food pantry at Keolahou Church.
Each evening, Hale Kau Kau serves 100 to 140 meals at the Hale Kau Kau kitchen and delivers 60 to 70 meals to the homebound elderly, sick, and disabled of South Maui, according to a news release. Last year more than 58,000 meals were prepared and served on site or delivered to the homebound by volunteer drivers.
The cost to attend the fundraiser is $95 per person. Table sponsorships and event program advertising are available in a range of prices.
Further information and tickets may be obtained by calling 875-8754 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
In addition, both Kihei Lutheran and Trinity Episcopal Churches can provide information regarding tickets, sponsorships and advertising opportunities.
