Dr. Michael Greger to speak about role of diet in health

Dr. Michael Greger will discuss the role of diet in preventing, treating and reversing the 15 leading causes of death at 7 p.m. Thursday at Kaunoa Senior Center. The presentation is free and refreshments will be served. No reservations are needed to attend.

Greger has scoured the world’s scholarly literature on clinical nutrition and developed a presentation on his research.

Focusing on studies published just over the last year in peer-reviewed scientific medical journals, Greger offers practical advice on how best to feed ourselves and our families, according to an announcement.

A founding member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, Greger is a physician, author, and internationally recognized speaker on nutrition, food safety, and public health issues. He has lectured at the conference on world affairs, testified before Congress and was invited as an expert witness in the defense of Oprah Winfrey in the infamous “meat defamation” trial.

He is a graduate of Cornell University School of Agriculture and Tufts University School of Medicine.

Greger serves as the director of public health and animal agriculture at the Humane Society of the United States. Hundreds of his nutrition videos are freely available at nutritionfacts.org, with new videos uploaded every other day.
