Four Maui schools finalists in youth video competition
From a record 658 entries statewide, the state’s oldest and largest youth video competition – the ‘Olelo Youth Xchange Student Video Competition, presented by Sony has named 114 finalists.
Among them are four Maui County schools.
Winners will be announced April 12 at the awards banquet at Ko Olina Resort & Marina. High-definition Sony digital video cameras will be awarded to the winning schools in each of the 38 divisional categories.
There are three divisions: elementary, intermediate and high school. Previous winners and students with professional experience compete in the junior expert and expert categories.
Judges selected winners and finalists based on subject impact and technical production. The judging panels include figures from local news media, filmmaking professionals and subject experts.
Maui finalists are listed by category and age division:

“Peacemakers” – Maui High School
