Malino to perform at Hawaiian Music Series

The Hawaiian Music Series will feature Maui’s own Malino in a free concert from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday on Front Street at the Baldwin Home lawn in Lahaina.

Malino started in 1999 under the guidance of Sam Ellis. The band members recorded their first album, “Always Be Mine,” in 2003. The album featured a combination of Hawaiian, island reggae and contemporary songs, including six originals.

The band consists of four members: Allen Prest Jr., Vince Saures, Rodrigo Casio and Warren Corder-Hoopai. Malino has and continues to perform extensively throughout Hawaii. Band members are recording their second album with an expected release by this winter.

The concert is presented by The Lahaina Restoration Foundation. Chairs are limited and blankets, mats and low beach chairs are welcome.

This concert is part of the foundation’s ongoing Hawaiian Music Series program supported by the Hawaii Tourism Authority and the county Office of Economic Development.
