Organizations join forces to boost support for isle’s cancer survivors

The Pacific Cancer Foundation and Mana’olana Pink Paddlers are joining forces to provide greater support to Maui’s cancer survivors and caregivers.

“The journey through cancer is a hard and difficult road at best, and our organizations can provide the love, information and support which can make their journey easier,” said Pacific Cancer Foundation Executive Director Jeff Scharnhorst.

“That is our mission, and we are passionate about it!” Mana’olana Pink Paddlers President Mary Dungans added, according to a news release.

Pacific Cancer Foundation offers a Survivor Support Group from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. Mondays and a Caregivers Support Group from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. Tuesdays. Both support groups meet at the Cameron Center. “Pacific Cancer Foundation offers these groups and more to help those in times of need at no charge,” said group facilitator Linda Tesar-Amimoto.

Mana’olana Pink Paddlers offers cancer survivors and caregivers the opportunity to paddle outrigger canoes every Tuesday and Thursday morning at 8:15 a.m. to help regain health and promote wellness.
