Rotary club awards funds to college

At a recent meeting of the Rotary Club of Kihei Sunrise, the University of Hawaii Maui College Institute of Hawaiian Music received a $600 contribution, which will be placed in a fund for student scholarships.

The contribution was the result of the “Kukuna Kaiao” fundraiser held in mid-March at Beach Bums Bar and Grill in Maalaea. It was the club’s first fundraising event for the institute, and plans are underway for the second annual event to be held next spring.

At the same meeting, Chelsea Lehua Ramos from the UH Maui Dental Assisting Program received the club’s annual Doris Ann Capanash/Pat Corbett Memorial Scholarship award. Ramos received $750.
