SPCA offers $40 neuter for dogs over 40 pounds
The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Maui is offering to neuter Maui’s big dogs for $40 apiece. The procedure will be offered for a limited time for all dogs more than 40 pounds at local veterinarian offices, according to a news release.
“Our new ‘Forty Dollar Fix’ was created to have a big impact on the number of dogs entering our island shelter,” said SPCA Maui’s Peter Tierney. “Big dogs have the biggest litters and cost the most to fix.”
SPCA Maui President Sue Liscombe said: “The program is a win-win for Maui. Through fundraising like the Visitor Industry Charity Walk, donations and private grants, we are able to keep our islands’ vets busy and help offset the costs of spay and neutering family pets. With the cost of fixing a dog reaching as high as $500, fixing the family pet can put a major strain on a family’s budget.”
Those interested in SPCA Maui’s “Forty Dollar Fix” or other spay/neuter programs can call 280-0738 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. There’s a limit of five dogs per household.
