Rotarians rewarded for End Polio Now effort
Fifteen members of the Rotary Club of Kihei Sunrise were recently treated to a gourmet six-course meal prepared by fellow Rotarian and “Executive Chef” Dr. Fely Livaudais.
The Polio Plus Dinner was a reward for contributions of $100 or more to the Rotary International Foundation and at least $50 in contributions to the End Polio Now Effort. Total club donations to the effort since July 1, 2012, have totaled more than $1,200.
The meal was held at the home of Livaudais, and the “serving staff” included Dr. Sonia Gupta and “Dining Room Captain” Dr. Gerard Livaudais.
Grammy-award winner George Kahumoku Jr. was a surprise guest. He arrived with fresh produce from his farm and prepared a special salad. As the guests enjoyed their meal, “Uncle George” serenaded them with songs that told stories about the food being consumed.
This is the second annual Polio Plus dinner for this club and plans are underway for another effort beginning July 1.
