12-year-old visitor spends souvenir money on students

Kamryn Cullinan, a 12-year-old visitor from Sun City, Ariz., decided to do something else with the money her parents, Todd and Charlene Cullinan, had set aside for souvenir purchases. She used it to buy school supplies for children at Kihei Elementary School.

“I just couldn’t believe it,” wrote Kamryn’s mother in an email to The Maui News. “She told me, ‘Mom, what better souvenir could I have than to know I helped make a difference in Maui by providing school supplies for some of the kids so they could be successful in school?’ “

Cullinan donated the school supplies she purchased to Kihei Elementary School on July 24.
