Air Force Airmen Raymond D. Fuqua and Zabrie L. Loio graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas.

The airmen completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Fuqua is the son of Maryrose Toner of Wailuku and Raymond Fuqua of Lahaina. He is a 2009 graduate of Baldwin High School.

Loio is the granddaughter of Alfreda Mactagone of Kahului and niece of Wendy Chock of Makawao. She is a 2011 graduate of Baldwin High School.

Navy Lt. j. g. Dillon B. Shepley, son of Robinette and Mitch Shepley of Lahaina, was recently designated a naval aviator while serving with Training Squadron 21, Naval Air Station, Kingsville, Texas.

Shepley followed a training curriculum that included basic studies in engineering and navigation, training flights in simulators, aircraft familiarizations, basic and advanced instrument training, extended navigation flights, and landings and takeoffs aboard an aircraft carrier.

Shepley joined the Navy in April 2011.

Navy Seaman Norman K. Galacac Keliiwa, grandson of Johnette Hatori of Kahului, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

During the eight-week program, Keliiwa completed a variety of training that included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.

Keliiwa is a 2011 graduate of Aiea High School.

Navy Ensign Robyn M. Garner, daughter of Cynthia A. M. McCarthy of Wailuku, was recently commissioned upon graduation from the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps Program.

During college, Garner completed naval science courses and academic courses that fulfilled degree requirements.

Garner is a 2002 graduate of Baldwin High School and joined the Navy in May 2010.
