LHS Foundation awards 47 scholarships
The Lahainaluna High School Foundation took part in Lahainaluna’s Senior Scholarship and Awards Program, which was held in the new cafeteria May 8. The scholarship program, now in its 12th year, has gone from six scholarships totaling $6,000 to 47 scholarships totaling $135,000.
First-year scholarships included The Masters at Ka’anapali Hillside-Blaze Kalilikane Memorial Scholarship for $1,000 awarded to Jade Chihara, the Dr. Brendan Krause Chiropractor Scholarship for $500 awarded to Hope Morikawa, and the Sgt. James S. Kusuda Memorial Scholarship for $1,000 awarded to Robert Griffith.
The Hotta Memorial Scholarship for $1,500 was awarded to Gaylord Garcia. Receiving the Boss Frog Dive and Surf Scholarship for $1,000 was Ezra Baccar. The Central Pacific Bank Scholarship for $1,000 was awarded to Jeannie Ramelb. The Fred Izumi Legacy Scholarship for $2,000 was awarded to Bailey Pendergast. The H&K Takenaga Legacy Scholarship for $1,500 was awarded to Marella Galace. The Illocandia Scholarship for $500 was awarded to Abigail Haduca. The Ka’anapali Land Management Scholarship for $1,000 was awarded to Jordan Baclay. The Lahainaluna Boarder’s Association Scholarship for $1,000 was awarded to Jessica Wallace. The Class of 1956 Scholarship for $1,000 was awarded to Reilly Pasion.
TS Restaurants presented four $1,000 scholarships as follows: Duke’s Restaurant Scholarship went to Julian Bel-Robert. Kimo’s Restaurant Scholarship went to Aja Toscano. Leilani’s Restaurant on the Beach Scholarship went to Ryan Ragudo. The Hula Grill Restaurant Scholarship went to Bridget Joy.
The Lahainaluna High School Foundation presented four $1,000 scholarships to the following students: Jessica Wallace, Vincent Magno, Paige Cajudoy and Leslie Mina.
The Alredo Fred Sarian Memorial Scholarship for $1,000 went to Kekukuulani Haake. The Maureen S. Ariyoshi Memorial Scholarship for $1,000 went to Andrew-Ray Espiritu. The Ka Ipukukui Scholarship for $1,000 went to Rhys Lendio. The RVN Restaurant Scholarship for $500 went to Kanoelani Delatori. The Steven Strong, M.D., Memorial Scholarship for $2,500 went to Jenina Pascua. The Territorial Savings Bank Scholarship for $1,000 went to Kayshya Saribay. The Valley Isle Federal Credit Union Scholarship for $500 went to Mark Alamon. The West Maui Veterans Club Scholarship for $1,000 went to Lakeisha Ching. The Tadashi Sato Memorial Scholarship for $1,000 went to Eryn Pendergast. The Lily Nagaoka Takenaga Scholarship for $1,000 went to Leslie Garo.
The West Maui Federal Credit Union awarded five $1,000 scholarships to the following students: Esther Arvizu, Makana Kaaikala-Caban, Amanda Matsuda, Ivy Tejada and Vincent Sarian.
The Roy and Betty Sakamoto Scholarship for $1,500 went to Makenna Stockham. Receiving scholarship renewals were Leilani Miranda and Lewilyn Gitierrez.
The Makana Aloha Foundation Scholarship for $5,000 went to Haley Robb. Receiving scholarship renewals were Joshua Gaastra and Emma Baccar.
The S & T Ichiki Scholarship for $5,000 went to Junna Gazman. Renewed scholarships were awarded to An Hua, Jing Hua and Cheyenne Baltonado.
The Front Street Scholarship, an anonymous renewable scholarship for up to $35,000 a year, was awarded to Chelsey Erickson-Vierra. Receiving a renewed scholarship is Jeremy de Gracia.
