Lions Clubs hold joint installation of officers

A joint installation of officers for the Haleakala Lions, Kihei-Wailea Lions, Maui Lions and West Maui Lions was held at the Kahului Community Center on June 25.

Installed as presidents were Lena Staton, Haleakala Lions; Karen Siangco, Kihei-Wailea Lions; Joey Fernandez, Maui Lions; and Barbara Smith, West Maui Lions. Past District Governor Rodney Jung was the installing officer.

Officers installed by the Haleakala Lions were Kathy Harman, first vice president; Caroline Sadiri, second vice president; Tihani Van Boekhout, third vice president; Alan Fukuyama, fourth vice president, Frank Hamasaki, secretary; Tami Hue Sing, treasurer; Maria Keen, Tail Twister; Eloisa Mizuno, Lion Tamer; Mark Mizuno, membership chair; and George Okuyama, David Sakoda, Mabel Kinoshita and Hideo Ogata, directors.

Officers installed by the Kihei-Wailea Lions were Dawn Brandt, secretary; and Karen Siangco, treasurer.

Officers installed by the Maui Lions were Loraine Krauss, first vice president; James Mariano, second vice president; Robert Yamamoto, secretary; Chelsea Fernandez, treasurer; James Sato, Tail Twister; Irene Araki, Lion Tamer; Kristi Ota, membership chair; and Irene Araki, Warren Matsui and Mabel Araki, directors.

Officers installed by the West Maui Lions were Danae Marin, first vice president; Linda Elms, secretary; Lateah Hawkins, treasurer; and Filipina Flores, membership chair.

As part of their service to the community, the four Lions Clubs support various charities. The Lions’ focus is primarily on vision and assisting qualified residents who need glasses.

The Lions screen the eyes and check the hearing of children in schools.
