Rotary Club of Kihei Sunrise gives books to school libraries
At recent Rotary Club of Kihei Sunrise meetings, more than $600 worth of library books were presented to Kihei elementary and Kamali’i elementary schools.
Kihei Elementary Principal Halle Maxwell was present to accept the 53 trade paperback books for her school library. The books were selected by school Librarian Mina Otani.
Principal Kim Otani and Librarian Cyndi Rothdeusch of Kamali’i Elementary School received 29 books.
In lieu of a gift to the keynote speaker at each weekly meeting, the Rotary Club of Kihei Sunrise asks the speaker to write a message for a bookplate for a book to be purchased for the local school libraries. Books are ordered each year by the school librarians, and the bookplate is placed inside each book indicating the club’s and speaker’s name and message.
This is the 10th consecutive year that the Rotary Club of Kihei Sunrise has provided books for these two school libraries.
