Safety fair at Maui Mall

Maui Memorial Medical Center announces its 2nd annual Summer Safety Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Maui Mall in Kahului.

The event will showcase various MMMC departments and services as well as outside organizations and feature hands-on activities, demonstrations and educational exhibits.

Stage entertainment will include Australia’s John Stephan as featured in Maui Theatre’s show “You Got It! a Salute to Roy Orbison” at 10 a.m.; 2013 Na Hoku Hanohano Award winner Ikaika Blackburn at 10:50 a.m., comedian Andy Bumatai at noon and Zenshin Daiko taiko drumming at 12:40 p.m.

Exhibit and activity highlights include:

* Intro to CPR: A free demonstration and introductory classes on a first-come, first-serve basis at 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

* Impaired Driving Simulation Course: Drivers’ abilities are tested with vision-impairing goggles to simulate reduced functionality after a varied number of alcoholic beverages.

* Keiki Helmet Fitting: Bike helmet fitting and safety information. The first 75 children will receive a free helmet.

* Keiki IDs with Maui Fire Department: Get a photo ID for your child

Other topics covered will include smoking cessation, suicide prevention, domestic violence prevention, nutrition tips and stroke education.
