Maui’s native forest birds topic of free presentation

“Maui’s Native Forest Birds,” a free presentation by the Maui Forest Bird Recovery Project, will be given at Makawao Public Library at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 11.

Laura Berthold, ornithologist with the Maui Forest Bird Recovery Project, will share information about the ecological history of Maui’s native forest birds, which adapted to an island environment very different from that of today and face many challenges.

Berthold will present photos of the birds and the forest they inhabit. In addition, Berthold will discuss the project’s research and habitat restoration efforts.

The one-hour program that is suitable for ages 5 and older; all children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.
